nanu’s part in world earth day

Whilst we see the beauty of our world every day and night, it’s important to recognise the importance of environmental conservation and protection, for the future of our planet.

April 22nd marks the 49th year anniversary of World Health Day.

For those unfamiliar with World Health Day, this day is part of a campaign that was launched in 1970. The original founder of World Health Day was Gaylord Nelson, a former US senator from Wisconsin. He championed the need for a “national teach-in on the environment”, and drove this campaign in the USA. On April 22nd 1970, as a result of Nelson’s campaigning, there were demonstrations across the USA for a healthier and more sustainable environment, with around 20 million Americans participating.

Fast forward 49 years and World Earth Day is still going stronger than ever; this is a day that is celebrated by more than a billion people every year. There is a clear shared goal among the global population to ensure the conservation and well-being of our planet, and World Earth Day serves as a symbolic beacon for this.
